Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC) and Friends of the Cheat (FOC) are hosting a training day in Morgantown for citizens interested in becoming volunteer stream monitors. The training is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Room 334 of Percival Hall, on WVU’s Evansdale Campus. The Citizen Scientist Monitoring program is part of FODC’s Watershed Bill of Rights project, funded through an environmental justice grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program will provide citizens with the training and equipment to monitor streams for potential pollutants related to the extraction of natural gas and how to submit this data to a central online database. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to volunteer.
RSVP to: Pamela Engelmann, Pamela@deckerscreek.org or 304-292-3970.
