To My Fellow Residents of Morgantown:
By way of introduction, my name is Brian McAllister. I live and work here in Morgantown. My wife and I purchased our home through the Morgantown Homecoming program. We are proud residents of the Greenmont neighborhood, and active members of the Greenmont Neighborhood Association.
Having spoken with friends and neighbors, I understand that certain members of our City Council may be willing to allow our City Manager's contract with the City to expire without renewal. The process leading-up to such a result, and the result itself, would be detrimental to the best interests of the City.
As an initial observation, Mr. Moore has managed our City for less than one year, and has not been granted a full and fair opportunity to utilize his skills and experience in moving Morgantown forward. That being said, during his tenure as City Manager, Mr. Moore has proven himself dedicated to, and capable of, providing an outstanding level of responsiveness in addressing the concerns of our neighborhoods. Additionally, Mr. Moore has proven willing and able to bring any and all interested parties to the table while tackling our City's challenges and building on its strengths.
A political battle on this issue, protracted or otherwise, is both unwarranted and unproductive. In my estimation, our Council should focus on structuring a responsible budget, not engaging in unnecessary politics; alleviating the congestion on our streets, not picking fights; working to strengthen our neighborhoods, not allowing "politics as usual" to become usual in Morgantown.
Please contact your member of City Council by phone or email. Tell him or her that Mr. Moore deserves a fair chance to move Morgantown forward.
Please feel free to forward this email to friends, family, and neighbors. Thanks for "listening."
Brian
